William Engel

William Engel is a PhD candidate at the Munich University of Applied Sciences and a research and development engineer at MdynamiX AG in Munich, where vehicle dynamics, steering and automated driving functions are developed and tested for the automotive industry. His research connects the two: how an automated vehicle has to be controlled so that it drives safely, comfortably and predictably once the driving decisions have been made.
He completed his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Munich University of Applied Sciences in 2021, after studies that also took him to the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, and gained industry experience at BraunCarTec before joining MdynamiX. He co-designed the rules and the race track of the VDI Autonomous Driving Challenge, in which student teams from all over Germany compete with automated model cars.
