Student assistant (SHK) in autonomous driving research (m/f/d)

Student assistants are part of almost every project in the lab. You work with one of the PhD candidates on a concrete piece of their research, learn how a research lab works from the inside, and often find your thesis topic along the way.

What you could work on

• Data and recordings: join recording drives with the research vehicle and the instrumented bicycle, calibrate sensors, check and organise recordings.
• Data pipelines: auto-labelling, annotation tools and dataset tooling for LiDAR and camera data.
• Simulation: scenarios, digital twins and pedestrians that behave like people, in CARLA and Unreal Engine.
• Vehicle software: ROS 2 nodes, interfaces and tooling on the research vehicle.
• Teaching support: technical support for the Autonomous Driving lecture and its robot cars.

Your profile

• Enrolled at Hochschule München or another Munich university, in Bachelor’s or Master’s studies.
• Python basics; depending on the task, experience with PyTorch, C++, ROS 2, CARLA or Unreal Engine.
• Reliable, curious, and happy to get your hands on real data and hardware.
